This workshop will focus on processes for deepening connection, attachment and safety in the couple relationship. Coming from the perspective of Imago Relationship Therapy (Hendrix-Hunt). This workshop will also include contributions from Attachment Theory (Bowlby), Emotionally Focused Therapy (Johnson) and Neuroscience (Cozolino) to assist in understand and enhancing these processes. Workshop points of focus include: how to overcome marital stress that is maintained by absorbing negative affect; reframing marital problems in terms of underlying feelings and attachments; depathologizing behaviors resulting from ruptured connection. Strategies and interventions will be specified for fostering the creation of an environment necessary for secure bonding and for experiencing the sacred reality of connection and attachment in the couple relationship.
