THE SPIRIT OF IMAGO AND THE SPIRIT OF JUDAISM – DIALOG BETWEEN IMAGO THERAPY AND JEWISH SOURCES

Rabbi Ya’akov Cohen, Rabbi Shmuel and Rivka Stauber. 11.08.2008 05:54

The basic assumption of Rabbi Cohen is that the flow in creation is enabled by the power of man being a partner to the Creator in bringing the universe to its fruition/to its essence.

Being a couple is the expression of the maximum life energy of man and of his essential primary function. In his lecture “And he called them Adam “ (Genesis 5,ii) Rabbi Cohen will connect between the spirit of Imago and Judaism, by relating to the discovery of the power of love that enables flowing and the experience of being one/whole.

Rabbi Cohen is the Rabbi of Mevasseret Zion and a marriage counselor. He has previously been Principal of a unique yeshiva secondary school for youngsters with learning difficulties, attention and concentration disorders, and hyperactivity.

The Staubers from New York are Imago therapists and Workshop Presenters and will share their unique experience of doing couples therapy in a Jewish Haredi community. They will discuss challenging cultural issues related to working with a closed community characterized by conservative norms and values. In their lecture they will present the integration they are doing between the language of Imago and Jewish sources.
